RE: Upgrade to 1.21 - webrunner - 10-26-2006 11:49 AM Okay, here's the deal: The hovering wouldnt work in IE6 without using javascript. Right now, it should display in the side in IE, and in Firefox, hovering over "hover here" will display that info instead (saving room). RE: Upgrade to 1.21 - masamunemaniac - 10-26-2006 11:52 AM Ah, so it's not broken in Internet Explorer, it just works better in Firefox. That's all good. Though presumably we'll lose the 'test' part once you're done with it. RE: Upgrade to 1.21 - webrunner - 10-26-2006 11:59 AM if people want the space-saving feature they'll switch to firefox. RE: Upgrade to 1.21 - *NightWind* - 10-26-2006 12:07 PM Yeah, I get the 'Online' text, stars, 'Group' and 'Joined' at the bottom, although I think I see tiny text which looks something like morse code or two dashes.  Hmm... now I want to switch to Firefox... RE: Upgrade to 1.21 - webrunner - 10-26-2006 12:08 PM The tiny text should be not visible now if you ctrl-refresh or shift-refresh or whatever-refresh I dont know. It's the "Hover Here" text. RE: Upgrade to 1.21 - masamunemaniac - 10-26-2006 12:12 PM Everyone should switch to Firefox, unless it's not your PC (ie it's a work/school/i-cafe computer). Edit: Also, my CMC Name has reverted to Fave Card again. RE: Upgrade to 1.21 - Zemyla - 10-26-2006 12:40 PM Even if it's not your PC, you should use Portable Firefox. Also, it's odd that the links are no longer italic. This looks like this. RE: Upgrade to 1.21 - CountSpatula - 10-26-2006 12:57 PM um i whent on my profile and it says my birthday is 4/7/1992 when its 7/4/1992 i checked in CP and its right so theve got mixed up RE: Upgrade to 1.21 - sqweek - 10-26-2006 02:06 PM sqweek Wrote:Interesting one, I can't see where it's going wrong. MyBB claims to be sending UTF-8 and as far as I can tell it is (the 0xA0s appearing in E-mouse's sig are still non breaking spaces in unicode), AHHH no, Code point 160 is encoded in two bytes in utf-8, so E-mouse's sig that I'm getting is not valid utf-8 as MyBB claims and Firefox is well within its rights to bring out the good old question marks. *Nightwind* this also explains why MyBB was whinging about your signature length before you switched back to the dot dot dot version. The question still remains as to why it's sending bogus data out. Hopefully it's just an artifact of the upgrade and there's still some old non-utf-8 encoded text around, and MyBB isn't just accepting whatever data the user sends and going "looks like utf-8 to me!" (though I could forgive this transgression since locales in this day and age are more retarded than MyBB could ever hope to be). RE: Upgrade to 1.21 - webrunner - 10-26-2006 03:16 PM mycode/bbcode no longer counts towards signature max size. Just to let everyone know. (Well, I think that may be the source of your problem, anyway.) I still say the posting box needs to word wrap. It's a minor issue with posts this short, but imagine typing an entire RP paragraph with this! Smilie table also could do with better spacing, and there's that clicking-back thing I mentioned (I have no idea what code would lead to such a difference and it's probably browser-dependant, but the old boards were more friendly). Well, and then there's this: sqweek Wrote:re: Hover HereMostly just nitpicks, but for a place I waste so much time at, I like some polish. RE: Upgrade to 1.21 - webrunner - 10-26-2006 03:47 PM Word wrapping problem? What browser are you using? Edit: I can't make it hover over for the username and still show up for Internet Explorer users below. RE: Upgrade to 1.21 - Zemyla - 10-26-2006 03:55 PM Hey, the link thing is fixed. Also, how are related threads chosen? RE: Upgrade to 1.21 - Milo - 10-26-2006 03:58 PM webrunner Wrote:Word wrapping problem? What browser are you using?Mozilla version something... probably an old one... umm, let's see... yeah, 1.0.1. Basically, long lines don't wrap in the post writing box and instead require horizontal scrolling. Thread READING works fine. I added an attachment of a screenshot from an earlier version of this post to demonstrate the point. RE: Upgrade to 1.21 - webrunner - 10-26-2006 04:08 PM Maybe you should update it. It works fine in Firefox Edit: Alice Rosemary Wrote:Hey, the link thing is fixed.I'm not sure. I guess by title? Also: Quick Edit and Multiquote for the win. RE: Upgrade to 1.21 - Milo - 10-26-2006 04:13 PM Alice Rosemary Wrote:Also, how are related threads chosen?Probably by looking for common words. In the duel forums, I notice threads using common words like "open challenge" tend to get linked to other duels which have nothing in common besides being open challenges. It also seems to completely fail at linking together RP threads and their associated OOC threads. RE: Upgrade to 1.21 - E-mouse - 10-26-2006 04:54 PM I think it may be due to only looking for threads within the same subforum. RE: Upgrade to 1.21 - Coron/Koremis - 10-26-2006 08:45 PM Most things that work in firefox work in Opera, Opera has better security, Opera has a crapload of other nifty things. Pretty much Opera=own. RE: Upgrade to 1.21 - sqweek - 10-27-2006 08:44 AM E-mouse's sig looks fine to me today so thankfully the encoding issues seem to be only a transitional problem. RE: Upgrade to 1.21 - masamunemaniac - 10-27-2006 10:03 AM Having tested the sidepanel in both Internet Explorer and Firefox now, I must say that I am happy with the results. Now, if only we could stop people from using so much space in their sigs, with about 5 random quotes and 3 banners all on separate lines... |
