The japanese text I used was kinda referencing to the engrish. But to be fair, Don is Russian, so he was translating to/from 2nd/3rd languages.

And I have seen some good games, but the most tend to be what I call 'RTP Games', which may or may not actually predominantly use RTP files. I'm talking RTP plot as well; blatant, bad ripoffs of other RPGs Icon_razz

Nothing like the plot of Adventurers then, huh?

RE: The RPG I'm Working On - masamunemaniac - 01-26-2007 04:28 PM

If you omit the word 'bad', then yeah. Cliché storyline can work well if executed properly. HEck, most RPGs I play I can see exactly where it's going a few chapters in advance, but sometimes they go and pull it off better than the game from which I'd recognise the plot from.

All games I played made heavy use of RTP. But yeah, the RTP selection is rather... limited, and tends to slap you in the face when you have an idea of what you want to do but not the art skills to draw it.

Though we seem to be suffering some topic drift here.

HGE can add colour tints to sprites, I believe. Photoshopping may not be neccessary.

RE: The RPG I'm Working On - webrunner - 01-29-2007 11:36 AM

Yeah but tinting doesn't really do what I'd want it to do, except if I want to do a green poison effect or a red 'you killed this monster' effect.

What I saw of the game so far looked pretty good for having what I gather to be bare-bones coding. I might try HGE for my game, RPGTK and OHRRPGCE haven't worked too well, because of bugs and graphical restrictions, respectively. Although if I really wanted to, I could try and program it in BASIC... but I digress. Keep up the good work, I'll be rooting for ya.

Well, RPG Maker XP is perfectly legal if you're willing to pay $60 dollars.

RE: TheGame - a secretly named RPG.  SPOILER CONTEST TOO - webrunner - 07-24-2007 10:52 AM

Updated the first post/name to reflect a little contest I'm doing.

RE: TheGame - a secretly named RPG. SPOILER CONTEST TOO - Arsonic - 07-24-2007 11:07 AM

I'm stating my intention to be a voice actor for the game.

RE: TheGame - a secretly named RPG.  SPOILER CONTEST TOO - masamunemaniac - 07-24-2007 11:14 AM

And I'll do the song for the opening anime sequence.

RE: TheGame - a secretly named RPG.  SPOILER CONTEST TOO - MageofSpades - 07-24-2007 04:13 PM

If you need a Voice I'm definately interested.

RE: TheGame - a secretly named RPG.  SPOILER CONTEST TOO - ThePanda - 07-24-2007 10:12 PM

I'm full of talents of voice.

RE: TheGame - a secretly named RPG.  SPOILER CONTEST TOO - Flipkat - 07-25-2007 11:10 PM

I can actually voice a FEMALE. Realistically, even!

RE: TheGame - a secretly named RPG.  SPOILER CONTEST TOO - Sol - 07-28-2007 07:17 PM

I have a deep commanding voice worthy of a villain or an orc
Also I dident read the thread earlier because I hadent noticed it existing(I dont beleive in proggramming because Im dumb and only know very basic C, but I do however know 3D and if maxscript counts as a proggramming language which it probably doesent then maybe theres hope for me ) my friends use ogre 3d and other programsfor their works in progress I can back up that its a decent engine type thing( its not an engine but it is like an engine)

RE: TheGame - a secretly named RPG.  SPOILER CONTEST TOO - webrunner - 07-28-2007 10:56 PM

i've used ogre, but this game is HGE, 2D with 3D effects. 3D won't help.

RE: TheGame - a secretly named RPG.  SPOILER CONTEST TOO - Midboss - 08-05-2007 10:56 PM

If the opprotunity arrises, I'd like to do some voice acting. I have a decent comand of my vocal capacities, so in addition to burly types I can also traverse the range all the way to cute fuzzy thing. I'll throw up a link or two to some demo clips later although if I'm getting the right impression the need for voice actors is some time off.

RE: TheGame - a secretly named RPG.  SPOILER CONTEST TOO - masamunemaniac - 08-05-2007 10:57 PM

Before the end of today would be perfect timing.

RE: TheGame - a secretly named RPG.  SPOILER CONTEST TOO - Midboss - 08-06-2007 01:42 AM

Well apparently I just freaking missed the deadline (Even though it's still technically today darnit.), so I'm going to upload an attachment or two anyways.

My computer complains that zlib1.dll was not found when I try to run it. Any suggestions?
