RE: Phase 8: Manipulators; Chapter 1: Pawns and Knights - *NightWind* - 02-15-2008 08:02 AM Oh wow, so that's what Shadehawk's Dad looks like - neat. I've always wondered about these things... So is there a dark side to the Silver Arrow? Tera Corp seems to have a reputation for making deadly things/weapons. Oh and yays, for non-cancerous ciggies. Someone out there needs to invent those and get rich (well, hopefully) by doing the right thing. RE: Phase 8: Manipulators; Chapter 1: Pawns and Knights - sXeAndriex - 02-15-2008 01:28 PM Is it strange that I think not marketing safe cigarettes is what cements Hector as a villain? Ruining lives, killing innocent civilians- whatever, but cancer free cigarettes? You bastard. RE: Phase 8: Manipulators; Chapter 1: Pawns and Knights - Loyle - 02-15-2008 02:13 PM Giving smokers safe cigarettes is like supporting their bad habit. However, If someone managed to make nutritional cigarettes on top of it, the world will be a better place. RE: Phase 8: Manipulators; Chapter 1: Pawns and Knights - Darg - 02-15-2008 02:35 PM Uh, maybe? Like gorging on unhealthy fast food, then gorging on healthy fast food is still bad. Or...something. RE: Phase 8: Manipulators; Chapter 1: Pawns and Knights - Loyle - 02-15-2008 03:27 PM I think it would still be addictive. Besides, there's really no purpose for it other than unnecessary hype. RE: Phase 8: Manipulators; Chapter 1: Pawns and Knights - sXeAndriex - 02-15-2008 03:44 PM They taste extremely good. That's like saying there's no reason to drink anything other than water. (No, I don't smoke. Just saying...) RE: Phase 8: Manipulators; Chapter 1: Pawns and Knights - Darg - 02-17-2008 07:36 AM Crap, this is turning into one of those debates where I can easily agree with both sides...I hate those debates... I guess the decision maker for me is when it comes to non-water or fast food, no one is forcing anyone else to partake; the level of involvement and enjoyment of the indulgence is entirely voluntary. With cigs, even safe ones, people who don't want to smoke are still forced to suffer breathing the second-hand from any nearby smokers, thus removing the voluntary aspect of the indulgence. And no, before anyone suggests it, the non-smoker moving isn't always an option, nor should it have to be. RE: Phase 8: Manipulators; Chapter 1: Pawns and Knights - Milo - 02-17-2008 02:23 PM Yeah, but would you still make a big deal out of breathing in someone else's smoke if you knew there was no risk of second-hand health problems? I guess you could make a case of the smell itself being mildly annoying, but really, I wouldn't make as big a deal about that as I would about involuntary exposure to cancer. Of course, I'm anosmic, so my opinion may not be too reliable. RE: Phase 8: Manipulators; Chapter 1: Pawns and Knights - Aegof - 02-18-2008 01:37 AM I think that's the first real frown we've seen from Wizard this storyline. Not totally sure why that strikes me as significant, but I'm too tired to figure it out just now. RE: Phase 8: Manipulators; Chapter 1: Pawns and Knights - *NightWind* - 02-18-2008 08:31 AM Really like the poses there. Oh and is it just me or does Wizard look like Argent in the last panel? I sort of remember an ADV comic where Argent looks up in a similar fashion and says something along the lines of "Stop stepping on my turf". Hector is starting to gain points in terms of badassery. Beating Union too. Edit: I couldn't help but wonder what Wizard means by "mistakes". Is there a downside to his powersuit? Does he go into pain spasms or something like that? He sounds like he has a lot of unfairness building up in him. RE: Phase 8: Manipulators; Chapter 1: Pawns and Knights - ThePanda - 02-18-2008 09:28 AM Theory: Wizard IS Hector, this is all taking place in his mind. Discuss. RE: Phase 8: Manipulators; Chapter 1: Pawns and Knights - Aegof - 02-18-2008 09:52 AM *NightWind* Wrote:Is there a downside to his powersuit? I can think of a couple possibilities. RE: Phase 8: Manipulators; Chapter 1: Pawns and Knights - Loyle - 02-18-2008 11:04 AM Yes, the power suit gives its wearers a creepy evil smile that they share to signify that they are wearing a slightly faulty Tera Corp. brand power suit. RE: Phase 8: Manipulators; Chapter 1: Pawns and Knights - Darg - 02-19-2008 03:38 AM Milo Wrote:Yeah, but would you still make a big deal out of breathing in someone else's smoke if you knew there was no risk of second-hand health problems? It would still affect my allergies and make me smell bad, so yes. A really good modern example would be people who weartoo much perfume/cologne. Now, if they made safe cigarettes that had hypoallergenic smoke and a pleasant aroma, that'd be different. Also, I'd consider going crazy from wearing/using the suit a serious downside. RE: Phase 8: Manipulators; Chapter 1: Pawns and Knights - Shinuzzo - 02-19-2008 04:38 AM You think they would have built the powersuits with some sort of override in case something went wrong. RE: Phase 8: Manipulators; Chapter 1: Pawns and Knights - Serith - 02-19-2008 04:58 AM There is. But I don't think it was built into Wizard's suit, as that was their first prototype model. RE: Phase 8: Manipulators; Chapter 1: Pawns and Knights - Xagar - 02-19-2008 07:08 PM If you have a healing factor like Wolverine, then you can totally smoke. RE: Phase 8: Manipulators; Chapter 1: Pawns and Knights - Flipkat - 02-19-2008 10:19 PM I thought the madness was a result of the treatment, not the suit. You call that a downside? I call it a license to kill. |
