We all knew how this was gonna go.

RE: Phase 9: Research; Chapter 1: Wearing the Hat - Haplo_64 - 09-26-2008 01:48 AM

At least he has style, like crunching up a pillar and using the shards to dice someone.
I hope it wasn't a load-bearing pillar though...

Holy shit, Wizard is awesome.

RE: Phase 9: Research; Chapter 1: Wearing the Hat - Milo - 09-26-2008 12:36 PM

Why doesn't he, you know, order the agents to stand down?

RE: Phase 9: Research; Chapter 1: Wearing the Hat - masamunemaniac - 09-26-2008 01:19 PM

Maybe he doesn't have the authority to do so?

Or maybe the Agents would have a hard time accepting the order given that Wizard's just killed so many of them?

Also, didn't Golem say that Wizard is an Omega Level Threat and Unrecoverable? So why is Mantis sending their guys into the meat grinder anyway? Also, when did Mantis suck so much? They started out Uber, then next thing you know Shadehawks fighting several of them unarmed, and now they are getting pasted due to the use of zero tactics. Why don't they just shoot Wizard with a sniper rifle? Or at least try.

Probably the result of a cost cutting exercise. Or maybe the good ones went off to find greener pastures, leaving only the dimwits behind.

They did. A really big one.

Stormtrooper effect and law of inverse ninjutsu.

A large number of competent soldiers in one place is a physical impossibility. Any attempts to bring it about will inevitably fail, no matter how careful you are.

it could also be shadehawk has gotten better over time, and this is wizard, he's like the eternion of antihero for fire.

Maybe web Is drawing this like an RPG too. You know how at one point you're fighting them as minibosses and every point afterward they are just cannon fodder.

Or what it could be is just that the MANTIS Agents in this chapter and the previous Mellisa chapter were the lower level ranking ones who just guard non crucial areas.

The ones that Shadehawk fought with the pre-Golem guy were guarding perhaps something more important to TeraCorp. Shadehawk probably accidentally ventured into the sector which needed "higher-level" MANTIS Agents.

And we don't even know if the artifact vase we see here is even real. For all I know, it could just be a gauge/play with Wizard's powers (don't know why but). If the artifact's fake, then so could be the MANTIS Agents.

And if I was in control of some sort of elite-group/army which would (obviously) have varying levels of skill and competency, I would not colour code them so that attackers can distinguish between the strong and the weak - they will all be dressed the same. If attackers mistakenly take on a strong, the news will spread and none will ever try to attack my soldiers again - even if it's a weenie. Of course to make this work, I will place some overpowered strongs on at the entrance, to kill any confidence the attackers may have. Perhaps have the strongs occupy 3 levels. If bad comes to worse and I need to prepare for a major battle, I will pick out all the strongs by those tracking chips I put into them.

*turns around*

Hey! Why are you listening to my monologue?!

Sounds like someone's been thinking about this for a while. But it makes perfect sense.
Besides, can you really stop the testosterone driven freak jobs from doing something stupid? Wizard just slaughtered their comrades, are you telling me you'd take that? If you had a shiny gun?

It's... testosterone?

This is a situation where swearing is appropriate.

RE: Phase 9: Research; Chapter 1: Wearing the Hat - *NightWind* - 09-29-2008 06:49 AM

Escape Plan #37:
Run and grab a female villain by the hand, shouting "Crossroad! RUN!". Intentionally let go of the female villains hand straight after, letting female villain fall face first into the ground. Other villains will then descend upon the female villain known as "Crossroad". Continue to flee.

Escape Plan #38
Throw monopoly money into the air. Flee.

Escape Plan #39 (which will automatically get me killed):
Yank off a female villain's clothes. Flee.

I like the first plan, it smells of deception.

RE: Phase 9: Research; Chapter 1: Wearing the Hat - *NightWind* - 09-30-2008 06:49 AM

Aw, thanks. ^^

And I hope Wrench has some tricks up her sleeve. Wonder if Wizard can see in the dark...

RE: Phase 9: Research; Chapter 1: Wearing the Hat - Haplo_64 - 09-30-2008 08:59 AM

He wouldn't need to. If it went dark, a simple fire-ey explosion of someones body would light the way,

RE: Phase 9: Research; Chapter 1: Wearing the Hat - *NightWind* - 09-30-2008 09:52 AM

Ha. True that. Wizard's got everything.

But I wonder if Jack (the brown trenchcoat person?) will be a match for Wizard. Jack seems to have a pretty schemy mind. But he still could be less powerful than Wizard.

I'll have to put my hopes back on Hector to defeat Wizard. Oh hey, I just noticed that I'm supporting the bad guys now...

RE: Phase 9: Research; Chapter 1: Wearing the Hat - masamunemaniac - 09-30-2008 10:16 AM

Jack would be turned to pulp in a fight against Wizard.

Also, all of Wizard, Jack and Hector are bad guys.
