RE: ADV! RPG - crescentsorrow - 03-13-2005 08:33 PM Ooh yeah! You should use Matt Massey's RPG guide to ADVENTURERS! for the early game! It's pretty good AND makes the random comics tie in with the plotline! RE: ADV! RPG - masamunemaniac - 03-14-2005 01:18 PM For the optional boss that doesn't need to be defeated (but can for the hell of it) we could have a redimensioned Grand. I'm sure he could come up with some way of nullifying the Infinity-modes in the time he's spent out of reality too. And if you can email me a battle animation set for a sample character, I'll try whipping up one for Karashi. I might work on Blanc next, but no promises. RE: ADV! RPG - Smeghead - 03-14-2005 03:21 PM I'm not very familjar with the program you're using, so when the game is done, what formate will it be in then? (I mean would one need some kind of special program to play it?) RE: ADV! RPG - E-mouse - 03-14-2005 06:02 PM Personally, I think an optional forum alternate dimension sidequest/optional freaky area would be amusing, but I'm always looking for some excuse to stick in personal references... I mean, k'damn, it'd be interesting for Ardam to meet Jeremy's Author, who arranged the...... er, wait, I never did explain that so it's a spoiler... AMNESIA DUST! RE: RE: ADV! The first rule of optional bosses is that you don't talk about optional bosses. RE: RE: ADV! (I mean would one need some kind of special program to play it?)RPG Maker 2000 (or 2003) is a system for making console-style RPGs. It comes with a prebuilt run-time game engine program; as long as you distribute it and all the necessary files along with the game, the recipient will be able to play it just fine. Mason RE: ADV! RPG - shaventalz - 03-16-2005 11:00 AM OK, here's some charsets for you. Two are from a battle set, the other is a 'field' set. I trust everyone can tell which is which. RE: ADV! RPG - masamunemaniac - 03-16-2005 01:36 PM Now I've got one question before I do work on the battle sets. Do you actually want the graphics in that "style", or would the charset style suffice (ie would graphics similar to the bottom three rows of my charset be workable for the battle system once arranged into the RM2K3 format? Or would you nee them done in the style shown?) RE: ADV! RPG - shaventalz - 03-16-2005 01:59 PM The same style as the field character would be fine, as long as anyone else doing battle sprites uses the same style. RE: ADV! RPG - Midboss - 03-16-2005 08:54 PM I've been playing around with the I-Karashi sheet, and I think I have a couple suggestions for it. I don't have time to make these changes myself this week, (and likly not for awihle) so I thought I'd just post them here. 1. Drop her shoulders down a couple of pixels. (She's a woman... muscular sure, but still feminine.) 2. You might want to use a darker shade of brown for the hair outline instead of using black. It'll fit in a little better. Especially with the Khrima and Argent ones already in. If I do get time to do a little spriting, I'll probably do a K-soldier and some of the in-battle enemies. Just so y'know. RE: ADV! RPG - masamunemaniac - 03-17-2005 03:01 PM K-Soldiers were next on the agenda after Blanc... my charset folder's currently full of red-armour-wearing-soldiers... until I decided that my edits looked complete crap. I'm not posting them here to save myself the humiliation. And with regards to the hair... The main colour of it was dropper-ed from the comic, the outline being hex 000000. I could say that I was attempting to emulate the art style of ADVENTURERS!, and while that may be valid, my actual reason was my colour-blindness. It makes spriting and such quite hard. Especially with regards to use of colour. Comprendé? Anyways... I see that the battlesets are used for walking, statuses, attacking... but for special attacks, do they use the same set (ie use more than 3 different frames?)... And anyone notice the snapped "K" girders amonst the rubble on the Khrimalith? And edit: OMG I see what you mean about the shoulders... I think fixing that would take quite a bit of work though? Hmm... and crapola. RE: ADV! RPG - Nanotech Bard - 03-19-2005 09:25 PM Ah, attempt #213. A question, have you any clue how long it's going to be? How many dungeons have you planned, for instance? RE: ADV! RPG - LtSterling - 03-19-2005 09:48 PM he is using the Gaiden strategy book for the first half from the fan contest for the game ADV! RE: ADV! RPG - shaventalz - 03-20-2005 07:49 AM It'll be as long as it turns out to be. I'm just going one plot point at a time, so I don't really know other than that. maniac: I haven't really looked at the battle animation yet, so your guess would be as good as mine. On a side note, does anyone know how to make a 'Scan' system? I don't seem to recall there being any way to, for instance, tell which enemy was targeted by scan. Also, some help would be appriciated on fleshing out bit parts and such. For instance, how does SHGGTBA meet up with the heros? Whatever happened to that one guy that Drecker stole the wallet from, that was going to fight on the border? Any suggestions will be considered, if not used. RE: ADV! RPG - 'Joyd - 03-27-2005 02:30 AM If I recall correctly, the blue-suited guy who is shy one wallet never appears again after that one strip. I was never able to create a scan system that wasn\'t really sloppy, or a steal system that wasn\'t either really sloppy or didn\'t involve stealing from the whole enemy party, which is not really how Drecker\'s steal seems to work. Out of curiousity, who are you giving the scan ability to? You might give it to SpyBot - it would flesh out the character a little, and you might use he idea that he would be programmed with knowledge of Khrima\'s troops. Or else Lumi could just have it. EDIT: Right after I clicked post, I remembered that it\'s Ardam with the scan ability - see the battle with Eternion and with the Nrg. Demon. (Tastes like Orange Tang) RE: ADV! RPG - shaventalz - 03-27-2005 01:28 PM Yeah, I was thinking Ardam, although Spybot could probably have something similar. It\'s pretty far down on my to-do list, though. And even though webby never showed the wallet guy come back, he as much as said that he did show up again sometime. I mean, actually aquiring the airship wasn\'t shown, and you know it had to happen sometime. RE: ADV! RPG - 'Joyd - 03-27-2005 02:45 PM I may get garroted for this, but the game might be better off if in some instances the comic isn\'t followed perfectly litterally. For instance, the airship appears very early on; for gameplay reasons, you might want to hold it off until a bit later. RE: ADV! RPG - shaventalz - 03-27-2005 02:48 PM Yeah, I\'ve already talked to webby about stuff like that. For similar reasons, there will be water ships in the game. RE: ADV! RPG - Smeghead - 03-27-2005 04:48 PM A ship that sail on the water or an elemental water dungeon on a ship?.. I guess it\'s the first one but it just sounded a bit odd RE: ADV! RPG - shaventalz - 03-27-2005 04:49 PM Yes, the first. Although the second has promise... Nah. |
