[Finished] Kappachino

Your opponent is undizzying one of his monsters each turn for free. You had to pay 4 mana and a card for the same privilege. This is not fair, even if you do get the first crack at it. There's no way to build your deck around Kappachino, at least not more than your opponent did just by playing something half decent. All you need is a single ability monster, or one guy who comes into play dizzy, and you've gotten the full effect. In fact it actively prevents you from comboing it with ability monsters, because giving one of your opponent's monsters speed summon every turn pretty effectively shuts down ability control decks. There are no overpowered combos with this thing that justify such a major downside.

Decrease its cost, the only other thing we can do is increase its speed, and that helps your opponent as much as it does you, which isn't much anyways.

RE: [Boost] Kappachino
I think this could be good in the right control deck. A deck that uses cards like Rembrant, Salvager, Orbital Cannon, and Ampire along side normal snipers, maybe. That being said, I could maybe see a one mana cost reduction. Though I'm not sure it needs it. I mean, all of those cards are pretty amazing if you can bypass the double-dizzying, and they can all basically destroy anything the opponent undizzies (or at least perpetually keep them from attacking with whatever they undizzy).

RE: [Boost] Kappachino
To be fair, you are probably trying to use your Kappachino to ensure your opponent doesn't have any relevant monsters to undizzy. Now, that use isn't good either at the moment, but that's because the removal boost makes cards like Rembran(d)t unplayable.

On the other other hand, undizzying a monster on your own turn is only good if you have ability monsters, which your opponent is unlikely to have for the same reasons your own deck is unlikely to be feasible if you run them.

So I'm undecided. As a card that explicitly supports ability monsters (on both sides of the table, no less), I'll refrain from an opinion on this card until the final state of removal is decided.

I disagree. Speed summon is a very powerful ability, and I've seen the card used very well just by undizzying a newly played monster every turn and using it to kill the snipers I'm undizzying. Also, it only takes 1 ability monster, since Kappachino can only undizzy one ability monster. So your opponent can get the same value from it as you just by playing a single Karashi.

I tried it, and was quickly overrun by all the monsters with speed summon my opponent was playing. That really kills control decks. I learned the hard way that it's not really any better using Rembrandt 1 time each turn than Ardam 2 times.

RE: [Boost] Kappachino
Do you still have the deck list for your Kappachino deck, Nacho? Now that I have a full play set, I want to see if I can modify it a bit into something more playable.

I don't believe so, but it wasn't a complicated deck. It used ritual fountains and various dark snipers, Skeletal Soldiers, and Rembrant along with Kappachinos.

RE: [Boost] Kappachino
I was thinking of making it dark light, since dark snipers are generally not that good.

I'm posting here just to indicate I've read this. I don't really have any strong feelings about it one way or the other right now and would need to discuss it at length with masa and Serith, really.
