Reputation System
I have disabled the reputation system (and discovered it's probably a lot easier to edit templates then I thought, I just have to look into that, but that's neither here nor there)
It was fun to play with for a while, but until I can look into some "greifing" issues, I've disabled the system entirely. I hope it's not badly missed=/

RE: Reputation System
Somewhat dissapointed; I think I was a rep or two away to two green bars.
Well, at least now we can't tell who's who by green-ness (or red).

RE: Reputation System
Hey, thanks webrunner. It was more of a hinder than a toy, if you ask me.
I mean, people voting negative feedback on someone is just provocation. It's no good.
Ooh! And the CMC names are now in the list! Neato.

RE: Reputation System
Pity it can't be reset easily - it looks like people still have the reputation they aquired before the disabling. Or is that just a detail that has yet to be modified?
Also, the extra info on posts = nifty.

RE: Reputation System
IF someone wants to pm me a list of forum clubs/cults, I can make a dropdown so people can add that to their posts too.

RE: Reputation System
Only Academia's really gotten off the ground again, if I remember correctly, but the problem with having that bit be a drop-down is that there's no rule against people being in several cults (I know there are some people in both Academia and Enoslubtiwhatever already)... but, a way around that would be to have it say 'main cult' or the like. Or make space for every possible combination, but that could get unwieldly if more crop up/revive.

RE: Reputation System
Ya, the problem with the cults is that people can be members of more than one cult at a time. And there's signatures to put titles already, so it's not really necessary.

RE: Reputation System
well, I could just make it a text box or something. Or checkboxes, I think also works, but I'm not sure how that shows up.

RE: Reputation System
Checkboxes would be optimal, but I think that what's there already is taking up enough space as it is. Of course, I think the reputation and join date lines could be cut, but that may be hard-wired into the board...

RE: Reputation System
Not sure how I felt about the Rep Bar...Lol. I'd say it's for the better, but I know some like shaven and alpha would've liked 2 bars. *shrugs*
As for clubs, there's PADC..

RE: Reputation System
I sorta have to partially agree with E-Mouse here. That's mainly because I think the list is too big already.
Checkboxes would be optimal, but they'd also take up so much extra space.
I think that there should actually be some stuff removed from the list. Like, the stars, the joined date and the gender.
Also, as sqweek said a while back, the online/offline status could just be a color change in the poster name (if that's possible).

The reputation line is still on yours? I can take the join date out, pretty easily (as well as move anything around)
It turns out that I have full control over all the templates (and the placement of variables) through the admin panel, so I have a lot more control.
For example, I already added a "go to main forum" page link to the "you just posted!" screen.

RE: Reputation System
Ya, I noticed.
Too bad it still doesn't check threads as read on the main page until you've visited the subforum that the post is in.
So I think a return to the appropriate subforum button might be better in place.
(specific example: if I post in the Test forum, and press said link, it'd be best to go back to the Test forum index, instead of the main page or the 'Fire and Brimstone' page.

RE: Reputation System
Yes! Now my slow connection doesn't have to reload every page I post to anymore!
The reputation line does still show up, but you can't edit it. It looks like:
Reputation: ![[Image: repbit_pos.gif]](http://forum.cmc.redleaf.de/images/repbit_pos.gif) ![[Image: repbit_pos.gif]](http://forum.cmc.redleaf.de/images/repbit_pos.gif) -->
Perhaps you can turn it off entirely in your profile somewhere, now that editing is disabled? Hmm...

RE: Reputation System
Well, I'm not sure how to implement THAT yet. I need to be able to get the proper URL and I don't know what all the variables are.
By the way, from what I've asceratined, if you have a checkbox/multiple select box, let's say between the first five letters of the alphabet, it appears int he profile as "Test: A C D" or something. So it would show up "Cults: Enotseulb Academia"
Edit: Ah, apparently it wasn't properly being commented out for E-Mouse. I just took it out of the profile entirely, it should be gone now.

RE: Reputation System
It doesn't display it for me. Try refreshing, or cleaning your cache or something.
I know my history doesn't stay around for more than one day, and last time I checked here was over 24 hours ago. So that could be it.

RE: Reputation System
Maybe we can set up "Factions" outside of the clubs that are basically just posting gangs. And the good news about those is if we have a forum contest, everyone is already divided up into tems.

Did I mention how immensly pleased I am with the addition of that forum link on the confirmation page? Did I? I didn't?
Well, I'm immensly pleased with that addition.
