So it increments as it posts, with no seperate counter/flag for each post? Unfortunately, that makes too much sense.
What if the mods (or just specific ones) could directly modify the point totals? Or, if that's too tempting, just lower the point totals? It really seems to me like post money should be removable by the mods, just like posts can be edited/deleted/moved. As it stands now (unless you've changed it), someone could make a totally worthless post somewhere for the money. The mods delete it/move it to Spam, but the point of the post has been fulfilled. The money is still in that person's possession.

Though 1: I would also suggest post size as a way to modify point values, but then one can make some really long image tags, unless those are filtered out.

Thought 2: Really worthless posts wouldn't happen too often, at least not by the same forumer. Spamming up threads outside of F&B would be enough for limited posting by the mods.

Point #1 sounds good Mai, perhaps it can be based on the number of characters in a post assuming that images don't count becase they rea a tag? Then if someone abuses that by posting gibberish, it would be really noticable and would be reported.

Or maybe we can base the each user's money rate on their star rating (the voting stars). That way, it'll be self regulating.

That wouldn't really work. For instance, a person could continually switch colors to get 30ish characters per cycle. If you prevent the board's tags themselves from being used as characters, there's still html tags themselves. On top of that, quotes can be used to add characters galore.
As for the money received being based off of rating stars, I can see so many griefing issues with that its not funny. Were you around when this board was first started and people could rate individual posts to lower a person's ranking? Not fun.

Oh, and there’s 1726 characters in this post, not counting spaces.

I agree with Nightwind on those two being fairly expendable. Or are they unremovable? Ditto with status - there are only three conditions for it, and the two immediately relevant ones can be checked by going to the main page of the forums. (Away is more a warning that they may not respond, so eh.)

But I expect those can't be removed easily. Stupid forum defaults.

I also agree that the shop system could use a revamp, or at least the method for getting money. Bluestone's cash-daily-for-logging-in sounds like a the best idea so far.

There's two TLOT elements there. That should probably be one TLOT and one DTLOT.

This might get a little complicated, but we could exclued all characters within html tags that would not be normaly seen, divide that remainder (lets say its 1726 w/out tags) characters by 5, getting 345 (rounded down from 345.2), Make a lot more items and change the prices for the current to make sence with the new. Webrunner wouldn't have to make them all, users could help with ideas and the price ranges for them. Heck, users could submit pics for the items as well.

Hey, then we could have a contest or something for it...

Anyway, what I was really going to post about was the point on making 2000 post to get one item. Maybe there could be "special" contests or something to get more money...

And I like spammian dollors... CMC should make its own currency...

My suggestion would be to just forget doing anything based directly on post length, excpet possibly checking if it's over 10 characters or something.

I'd like the Status line to stay for sure (it's actually pretty helpful), but Group and Joined seem really redundant for most people.

Actually, I wouldn't mind getting rid of the post-count stars that show up under the rank plate, either. They really break up the look for most avatars. I think we've brought that up before, though.

Hmm. It looks like CMC players have an advantage over everyone else, since they post regularly in the CMC forums. And while the RP forums count, they typically move quite slowly.
