The Vanish+Doom/X-Zone trick has been removed from the GBA version of FF6.

Eternals are multidimensional, so Maxima Termis would at any time have a connection to SOME dimension where the Vanish+X-Zone trick still works.

Not when rendered finite, which he'd probably need to be for the trick to work at all.

RE: Looks like beating Grand just got a lot harder. Minor FF6 Advance spoiler.
They're not multidimensional when the Melody of Finite is played (most effective from a harp) - they become temporarily mortal.
iirc, the 'undimension', as found on ADV, sent Grand to an existenceless, timeless place, hence the infinite duration (no time = doesn't wear off).
So it's actually a three part combo - Melody of Finite ![[Image: abilitypointer.gif]](http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y291/masamunemaniac/signature/abilitypointer.gif) Vanish ![[Image: abilitypointer.gif]](http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y291/masamunemaniac/signature/abilitypointer.gif) Undimension. The first part's just taken for granted. Nobody ever appreciates the bard

There's no guarantee, though, that you even need to play the Melody of Finite before banishing him. Has Maxy shown any ability to physically cross between dimensions, other than to and from THIS PLANET?
True, he's extradimensional, and that's the part that's surpressed by the Melody. However, if he did have the ability to cross dimensions, that ability might well still be usable while mortal. Heck, Undimension works off the same principle, and mortals use that.

It is in Japan. Also, I hope this is just for bosses, as there's no point in casting Doom or X-Zone otherwise...

Thread title Wrote:Looks like beating Grand just got a lot harder. Minor FF6 Advance spoiler.
IF you consider the fact that the vanish/X-Zone trick doesn't work anymore a spoiler, then the title has already given it all away anyway.
And Maxima Termis said something like "but without time the melody won't wear off" before being undimensioned (from my poor memory). The Melody not wearing off would only be a concern if it could make any difference - I doubt he'd have those be his last words in the mainstream of existence if they were just a passing comment. One can only assume that if the Melody would wear off, and he regained his full Eternal abilities, that he could easily leave the void.
And I'd say that while there's no mention of Eternals visiting other dimensions, the fact that they're able to seems very implicit to me. If I could be bothered I'd try and find some kinds of examples, but I can't.

Yeah, but, but Melody or notbosses usually tend to be immune to instant death spells under normal circumstances.

But if the Melody doesn't wear off, he's still mortal. Therefore, subject to death by old age.
Also, counterpoint: Comic #471 shows that Eternion at least has some way of crossing "dimension sets", and Comic #418 says that the Grand has lesser versions of each Eternal under him. If Eternion had the power to cross dimensions, so should Maxima.
Counter-counterpoint: Comic #419, where they discuss Undimensioning Maxima, says it sends the target into "dimensional stasis", not another dimension. Also, Comic #886 shows that Eternion didn't reveal all his powers to the council that granted Maxima his extra powers. Any power to jump unaided between dimensions would likely have been one of the powers he hid.
