Daily WTF
Those of you who are Of The Code, you'll probably get a kick out of this site:
http://thedailywtf.com/Default.aspx
IT also taught me something today that I never knew (or knew, and forgot): float values can't store some values (such as 0.1) exactly since they're infinitely repeating in binary.
It's a good thing I'm not stupid enough to test direct equality in a floating point (because when you're working with floats, the chance of being exactly on any given value is rare, particularly in gaming) unless I'm using it as a boolean for convenience sake, since it can store 1 and 0 pretty well. Not a good programming practice, but it'd be a pain to use a union for what I need it for.

RE: Daily WTF
That takes me back to my days of coding in QBASIC years ago. My (in hindsight, incredibly inefficient) battle system ran into repeated problems, especially with the iteration. The enemy attacks once their ATB gauge hits 4000? Nope? Okay, debug it, what's the problem - the ATB gauge is set to 4000.0000000012. WHY?!
I've not since taken up any real languages, but I might take a look round the site (programming's one of those interests that I've never quite got around to furthering).

RE: Daily WTF
This post is absolutely brillant.
(Translation: I have read the Daily WTF.)
Offtopic: I want to have Compiler as my summon, too. How can I do that?

I'll have to keep that site in mind when I start the Software Engineering and Game Design program next year.  Thanks, webrunner.

RE: Daily WTF
I'm amazed Zem wasn't the one to post this. He sends me Daily WTF and Slashdot links on a daily basis.
And damn, thanks to that second condition I can't get a set of custom equipment. Curse you human biology!

Why didn't they just immediately jump in the appropriate reversal spring, more like?

RE: Daily WTF
Awesome site! I'm more of a Java and JSP person myself, and tried to avoid C. So yeah, this site will be happily bookmarked. And it's got a Dilbert-ish type of humour to it as well! Either that or I've had too much sugar.

RE: Daily WTF
Flipcat... did you ever think about what would happen if they did so? You are aware of Tarou and how he added effects of various springs to his cursed form... what would happen if a female and male curse mixed, hmmm?
