ADV! RPG Demo is finished!

Yes, the demo of the Adventurers! fangame is finally out. The demo is probably a couple of hours long, and should give a good picture of what the full game will be like.

Bugfixes are here. Overwrite the game's appropriate files with the contents of the zip.

If the fonts in-game look bad, check your computer's font directory (usually C:\Windows\Fonts) for msmincho.ttc. If it's not there, you should be able to get it here.

I'll have to try this out once my computer is out of the shop and I've moved in to my new apartment.

Actually, I'll probably have more free time once that happens. Do you need any more testers?

The in-battle sprites are absolutely gorgeous. I personally would change the eyes on Karn's walkabout sprite, they look creepy. I'll certainly post more opinions once I've given it a whirl.

Ultros: Not for the demo, no. We could use some more help on the full game, but that's another story.

Heh, I guess Shaven went ahead and finished. I've done part of that game, so I've actually known about all this.

.....also, there is one point of the game where you are going to be cursing out Shaven.

Flavor text and various funnies are also in demand. Mus is obviously great at that....except that he's been deathly busy lately.

Wait hang on hang on, you don't have the font fix patch on shaven? I'll need to check that when I get home, as I'm sure I've got mine running with a more natural looking font than that...

Also, I intend to throw together overworld/walking sprites for at the minimum everyone in the main party once I've got my current project complete. (To those who it concerns: Yes, I am actually working on it.)

I haven't changed anything, and my copy is showing the same as it always has.

That being said, I've had way too many problems with getting those fonts to work right. It could very well be messed up again.

EDIT: Yeah, looks like they've been messed up again. Check C:\Windows\Fonts for msgothi0.ttc and msmincho.ttc. If they're there, I don't know what to tell you. If not, there's a zip here with all the fonts you need. If that still doesn't work... try Google. This topic has a good tutorial on fixing fonts.

I've signed up to the board. I can help with testing and funnies/flavour, although I won't be able to do anything for at least a few days.

We're not the fastest group in the world, so just working to your own pace and schedule will be perfectly fine (from the guy that's contributed approximately one file in the past quarter).

Also, I tried out the demo, and there are quite a few bugs I noticed, as well as things that just make it kinda difficult to play.

First and foremost, the text is hard to read. Second, when you are selecting your party, the sprites for the characters are strange (Why is Spybot a Samuarai?) and it doesn't tell you what there names are. Also, the second time you select a party, after getting chookie, (who also has a wierd sprite) Karashi's sprite isn't present, but you can still select her. Finally, in the Chook Lawyers boss fight, the lawyers have Goblin sprites.


So yeah, just a few things there. Nice game overall, though.

Yeah, about those character sprites... I intend to knock new ones out for all of the characters. Most characters are at the moment simply the default placeholder sprites. And I'm not the designated spriter so it's not my fault that there's none already

And the game really ought to have had the font patch bundled in, or maybe just edited into the first post and/or the dev board post? Also, if you follow shaven's link to the fontyfaq, ctrl+f for font, as it's all the way down on post #30something.

Edit: Rapidshã?‚t ;_; I guess it's not too bad for low demand files...

How about BECAUSE WE BURN THROUGH SPRITERS REALLY QUICKLY?!

I mean, we've had a dozen or something, and most quit after one little spriting job.. >_>

Party Sprites and Bosses: Graphics are teh one area we're really having problems in. Like I said, we tend to run through spriters rather quickly.

Karashi: Honestly, we tested this... Take the contents of this zip and overwrite the appropriate files. That'll also make it so Karashi and Chookie can actually use their skills. Somehow Chookie's skills were listed under Sing and Karashi's were usable only by Chookie.
