In general, I tend not to think of myself as a furry or anything like that. Instead I'm just a transforming wolfie and in my human form, I have ears and a fluffy tail I can hug when I'm bored. That's all I care about.

I do hate the elongated smiley however. Pointless and takes up too much space.

The main cardsearcher on nofeehost has been updated to include the newest donation card. But I wasn't able to update jabry because it wouldn't let me see my own folders and now I can't login either. I'll try again throughout the week and hope the problem fixes itself.

So it seems that anything hosted on Jabry is now down as well. I'll give it some time to see if they fix the whole thing or if it simply burns to the ground. I don't want to look for another server (at least not yet) because with the technical restriction of NightWind's cardsearcher, a server that is suitable is almost impossible to find.

Don't know if any of these may be of help... nofeehost is on the list, so I figured some of the other webhosts might be similarly suitable (assuming it's just ASP support you need).

I tried most of them, but either I'm faced with unacceptably slow responses (WebNG comes to mind) or they don't support MS Access. Others have too many ads, or some other requirement. But from my side of things, MS Access is the deal breaker. It tends to cut out at least 90% of would-be webhosts. The way NightWind's code is written, it would be catastrophic to move to a different database.

I also, did a google search and checked till the 10th page, but there's not many out there. Maybe I might try again at some point. But if Jabry is working fine, then I'm fine with it as well. Sooner or later one of them is going to to fall and not get back up, but until then there wouldn't be much point in getting a backup-backup server.

with ultros coming into power sometime this decade supposedly (with, I'm assuming, the authority to alter the actual CMC site) would it be possible to code the searcher in such a way as to have a page on the actual CMC site and use it's servers?
and I can't remember nightwinds position on this, but do you think they'd be willing to let that happen/could you contact and ask them if they would?

So I've received NightWind's reply on this:

"The searcher code was written in ASP whilst CMC seems to be in JSP and/or Java so both languages seem to be incompatible when it comes to integrating/embedding the pages. Also, the searcher points to a specifically written MS Access database whilst CMC points to I don't know what, so all the SQL and hardcoded bits will need a lot of change to have it work with the new environment (expect lots of breakages). What is also a pain is the managing of the code - if you are going to fix it, how much permission do you need? What can you touch and not touch? You won't have as much freedom to code and fiddle around with things. What if you crash the whole server? Sure, there's Dev, but what if it crashes Prod but not Dev? What will you do then? What you're looking at is needless complexity and work for what is already doing fine. And I think I've answered this before..."

With NightWind's response in mind, I'm going to be agreeing with him as well on this. Don't know who asked this before but at least now you know...

Howling is the other half.

So now it seems that Jabry is backup whilst nofeehost is down. Well, at least I can update the database. the most recent CSC I have the one with Bren Burrows and it has been updated. Now I'm in the progress of redirecting the CSS to jabry site.

Meanwhile, can someone send me the CSC with the newest secret card or is that disabled for now? Are there any other updates I missed?

For the backup sites. the main and RU cardsearchers have been updated to include the newest secret card. Nofeehost is still down, but I believe it will be back again in the next week or so.

Or maybe not... the Jabry servers seem to be playing up for some reason.

So apparently the only thing working is the main cardsearcher on the backup/Jabry site - and sadly it can't let you do store searches. The RU searcher doesn't seem to work beyond default.asp and the classic store searcher doesn't work either. I don't know why this is happening as rolling back to setup from a few months ago still puts us in the same situation.

The error message you'll get is going to look like the one below. Might be a Jabry thing as I'm sure the files are there and I haven't violated any rules.

I'll watch the site for a while, as there's nothing much I can do. Maybe it's time to look for a new server. I hate looking for new servers. Setting them up is just as annoying.

For when the card searcher has a home again, would it be possible to include a "fall legal" filter in addition to "in boosters"? Fall legal being anything that's not hammer of the implimenter, donation, event, or trophy.

Not a big deal or anything, but I figure it'll be a useful filter when building tournament decks.

Alternatively/additionally: filter by excludong expansions (e.g. all but prime, all but mech chaos and principalities, only clash and war, etc).

This shouldn't be a problem. I can see people using this.

As for this, it's theorectically possible, but will require a large change in both the code and the search form. But why would you want this feature - how does it work for you?
