Simple game development engines
Just something I found: http://www.scirra.com - You can make some neat stuff pretty damn quick with this, and it's extendible using python if you want to do something the interface doesn't exactly allow.

And it being written in Python means that you can add features to it if you want (and are a programmer). But how obnoxious is the API?

RE: Simple game development engines
I haven't looked at the API yet, so I couldn't say.

Something else:
http://www.stencyl.com/ isn't out yet but it's something to watch.

http://www.simscarnival.com/ is.. something? Supposedly a web-based game creation system with a sims coat. I signed up but I haven't been let into the beta yet.

http://www.rtsoft.com/novashell/ is available but lacks some features as of yet. It's really easy to build something though.

Stencyl actually looks pretty fun and easy, even for idiots like me.

Checking my list 8 times.
