Just double checked... ecchi != nudity. It can include mild nekkidness, but also includes revealingly clothed, tight/form fitting clothed, upskirt shots, underwear/swimwear... etc. Closest single word translation would be sexy.

Apart from the fact that I was aiming at a completely non-serious tone there... I think too much nudity would make anime and games rather boring. Characters would only be distinguishable by the hair/eyes (now I know a lot are only distinguishable by that anyway, but that\'s not the point). And tattoos would get boring a little quickly.
