The abilities would be cumulative, i.e. if you meet Allying 5, you technically also meet Allying 4 and Allying 3, so those abilities also trigger, starting with the lowest allying abilitiy (Allying 3).

Edit: I think the original mime idea got away from me. Probably the Allying 8 ability should be a copy ability instead (ala Wrench System or Dethstrik Salvager).
