Epic (or high) Fantasy is a story that has great conflict in it such as warring nations, the struggle against a great evil, the end of the world, ect
it differs from regular fantasy in that it's focus is on a grand scale rather than on personal struggles

to put it simply Epic Fantasy is just regular fantasy (what wikipedia calls Sword and Sorcery) with all the plotlines on steroids
instead of the exiled prince and his unicorn friend struggling to regain his bride and throne from his evil brother it's that PLUS learning to be a wizard because the evil brother is working for a necromancer oh and the kingdom is being invaded by skeleton dragons oh and once that's all taken care of the wizard order needs him to train more because the Dark One was released from his underworld prison by that necromancer before he was killed and only he can be powerful enough to pug him back oh and the queen is pregnant with The Chosen One who will defeat The Dark One years from now when he breaks free again but she was kidnapped by a gang of dwarves who thought she was going to steal their gold ect ect ect
