Pokémon

I miss Misty. It was nice when Ash was traveling around with someone who was his equal. Not a newb he has to walk through the ropes, but someone who was actually just as strong as he was. After the first season, there stopped being any reason to have a new trainer in the main cast. In the beginning, it provided exposition about the world, because Ash learned all this shit with the rest of us, but we know all that now.

There's no reason Brock couldn't have become the Pokemon coordinator. He's a breeder, his goal it to create beautiful, well groomed Pokemon. Or something like that. I never really got what breeders did, but I know he created food that gave pokemon good fur, and brushed them a lot. When he had Vulpix, he always made sure she looked good. Contests would be right up his ally. Instead, he's just... there. There's no reason for him to travel with ash, the show never goes into why he needs to leave his home town to be a better breeder, or what a breeder does, besides the stuff that would make him a good contestant of course.

Edit: Didn't Brock enter some sort of contest long before coordinators were introduced, and then give the vulpix he won with back to the original owner at the end?

I liked Misty.

May was alright, tolerable at best.

Dawn is a load of crap. And her little brother needs to be silently removed.

I liked Misty until three episodes (I think it was three) after she left she had a cameo and they made her all nice and junk to the point where she was way too fruity for me (like almost every other character after Misty first leaves). May and Max were tolerable, but I just can't handle Dawn. She's what made me quit watching the show.

I haven't watched this show since togepi was introduced. I feel all left out.

For the record, I like James. Poor, poor James.

It goes without saying that Team Rocket are awesome. If I could count the trio as a single character they'd easily be my favourite.

Yeah, and they constantly mistreated him and tried to marry him off to an abusive southern-belle version of Jessie. Also, in the new series it's revealed that James had a pet carnivine that was always trying to eat him. And James fucking loves that thing. Honestly, I was making fun of the show up until that point where it actually endeared itself to me for just that moment. And... then I started making fun of it again because it started sucking.

The Squirtle Squad is the only good thing to come out of that anime.

Butterfree, Beedrill, Parasect, Venomoth, Pinsir.. I'll have to have something else, though. Maybe Charizard, just to offset the fire weakness against Blaine, and to fly me around.

And I empathize with James. He also put on a a Moltres costume and said "I'm a flaming Moltres." Nice to see more cartoon characters coming out of the closet.

Anyone remember when James gave a very amusing backwards message (which you've all probably seen, and may have been posted a page back or something, not going to check)? He's probably one of the best characters even before they slip him all the in-jokes. I also recall an episode in which he tells of his backstory, and dies in the flashback. Might have been the one where it has his parents.

It was. He went back home because his parents died, but they didn't really die, and it was all a trick to get him to meet with his finance, Jezebel.

Jessie gets a few decent jokes too, like when she mentions that she's been chasing pikachu since before Dawn (age 10) was born, since pokemon's been running for over 10 years now, even though the characters haven't aged even one.
