Wait what? Mage nog makes a monster weaker to damage spell since you just wait till end of turn and then use the damage spell

RE: nerf Magenog
shwqa, you assume that your sniper is going to SURVIVE until end of turn. Wait, right, spell. Mage Nog can 'counter' that spell, thus requiring another source of damage to actually finish off the creature; it still leaves you way behind, especially if you have to suicide a creature into the Nogee.
And Andriex, I'm going to have to disagree: It's currently a LOT stronger than Swimsuit, which has the same cost and speed (but is unique), only having the rather simple requirement of controlling a creature. On defense, Swimsuit prevents one enemy creature of your choice from attacking or using a D/E speed ability; Mage Nog makes it so that the creature you target deals damage to an attacker, basically doesn't take damage, AND deals damage to the attacker it hits, but is less useful against abilities or spells (damaging ones only, can be overcome by enough snipers/combat). On offense, Swimsuit lets you flank one creature and leaves you more open if your opponent decides to attack with it; Mage Nog lets you send a high-attack monster to 'suicide' without actually dying, and then usually kill a SECOND creature sent to kill it!
The defense part of this I don't mind: Mage Nog has a requirement to operate that way on defense, and its usefulness scales directly to how strong that creature you have is. On offense, the difference is completely absurd.

also I still think Swimsuit is sort of underpowered and wouldn't compare it to Mage Nog anyways

I'd personally like to see "reduce to 3 life" and a cost reduction for now. But that's a forbidden "boost/nerf", so I'm guessing it won't happen.

RE: nerf Magenog
I'll agree that uniqueness makes Swimsuit worse. The rest, not really.
I also find a lot of things wrong with your argument, but they're really just piddly things (like saying mage nog "basically doesn't take damage" while the monster's life being set to 3, 2 if it is hit.) They're not important and your point still makes perfect sense, so it seems silly to do into detail with. Only really commenting on it so it doesn't seem as if I'm dismissing you out of hand without paying attention to what your saying. And because you said my name. I always feel like I should respond to things like that...

reduced to 3:

How easy would it be to add "set only if life > 3"?
If you're asking from a coding perspective, really easy. If you're asking from a balance perspective, waiting until someone counts the votes will tell you.

Because scaling every card down to match underpowered cards is so much quicker and better.

Looks like Bubbleman forgot to log out of my account before rebutting me.
Your account doesn't log out for hours sometimes when I try to log out. Sometimes I get confused (especially since your a new class now).
Just so that this post isn't completely worthless: I'm not sure that Mage Nog is better than Swim Suit or if they're even comparable. One's a dizzier and ones a defense enhancer(?). They are of two different mediums.

RE: nerf Magenog
It's a very rough comparison, but with cost and speed identical, their usefulness SHOULD be somewhat comparable. They have different weaknesses (dizzying is preventable for all creatures with a single Ribbon, as well as Focus for individuals; Mage Nog leaves the creature vulnerable to Firebolt after the fact if it wouldn't have killed the monster in the first place and can be more easily locked down by Miasma strategies without the Miasma, assuming you're using creatures that wouldn't have been locked down easily by that anyway) but really, Mage Nog should be somewhat comparable to Swimsuit. I'm tempted to say that the requirement of having a monster active to be useful might make up for Unique (though it generally doesn't), but I'm going to have to emphasize the usefulness of Mage Nog on offense. Read that again, Bubbleman. Flanking with a downside vs. doubling a glass cannon's destructive power is completely ridiculous.
Also, a better wording of the basic change I had in mind:
![[Image: abilitypointer.gif]](http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y291/masamunemaniac/signature/abilitypointer.gif) ![[Image: abilitydizzy.gif]](http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y291/masamunemaniac/signature/abilitydizzy.gif) Target monster
you control gains
(Lifebar) until end
of turn, and is
reduced to 3 life
It will still give (Lifebar) to creatures with less than 3 life, but it won't restore them to 3 life: you get 3 Nog hits per monster, period, rather than "3 this turn, another 3 each turn it survives."

If there is a change (still voting no), that's my preferred one out of the options I've seen. It makes the most sense.

RE: nerf Magenog
I don't want to see Mage Nog fundamentally changed like that. Making it so that it's only able to be used once per monster is a ridiculously large nerf. I'd prefer a cost increase of 1/1/1 over that, but I'm still of the opinion that, if anything, only a speed decrease is needed.

RE: nerf Magenog
Huh, maybe I misunderstood something. The way I see it, the monster (even at 3 life) would still get lifebar. It just wouldn't get it's life raised back up to 3 life it if was at 2 or 1.

RE: nerf Magenog
Yes, but if your monster doesn't take any damage, then that use of Mage Nog wasn't necessary, so it doesn't really make sense that you would use it if your monster wasn't in danger of taking damage in most situations. I can't see how that benefits you.

RE: nerf Magenog
Okay, ALMOST period.
And it'll still be a disgusting defense with monster generators, but at least this will somewhat limit the offense unless you restore their life every hit or two. Thankfully this isn't easy without having a monster target anyway...
