The Dom: It still sucks

The Dom was almost balanced earlier but discussion was tabled while waiting for MC.  I concur with Gospel that Jack, who is only slightly more expensive, is far, far superior.  I definitely don't think The Dom's ability is anywhere near powerful enough to justify costing 5 more mana (mono equivalent) than the slightly stronger Media player ray.  While mana-gaining cards are useful, generally I think that when the price gets that high players would prefer to just use the mana on strong cards.  I say try 4 4 and see what happens.

Lowering his cost to 4 4 sounds good as long as his sac is lowered to 4 4 or at least 5 5.

Lowering to 4/4 with a sac of 4/4 sounds fine by me.

Hell, 4/3 is fine with me (still one more mono-equivalent mana than Media Player Ray, slightly weaker, unique, mediocre ability, probably less sac). If you don't want to go all the way at once in balancing him, though, that won't bother me.

Tamdrik: 4/3 would not feel right for the card, its feel gives me the perfectly-half-way-between D and G ness feel. Besides, at 4/4, it actually seems useful looking.

ill vote 4/4 because i have a dom theme deck i  should revive at some point anyway

If we're going with 4/4, his sac should be at least 5/5, probably 6/6, since he's not really worth 4/4 just based on his stats and ability.

His ability can be changed later. I've found it to not even be useful as it costs grey to give you dark for cards that require both grey and dark to use anyway.

Sure he is. In a black grey deck he can have you gain five for one. Of course you'll normally have more like three monsters on the feild but that's still a net gain of two mana. If he uses his ability two times and then you sac him for his cost in mana, you just gained four mana and if you protect him or actually work to build a deck around him then he can survive for a very long time and get you two mana a turn. Kind of like a really expensive black mana bird with decent stats.

All that dark mana will be fine and dandy, but you'll still need grey for those dark/grey cards you're going to put in your deck so you can get that dark mana with the ability to begin with.
All I'm saying is that The Dom doesn't work well for what it works with. If the ability only needed dark monsters to produce dark mana, then you'd have something.

Additionally, if you've got all those monsters, what are you going to spend all this newfound mana on? Your field is already full!

But yeah, I say leave further rebalancing 'til after he's been 44 for a while.

I actually won't argue with that.
