RE: NightWind's Card Searcher
In the file I sent you earlier, the line below
Code:
1102#Whomphammer#4#0#dm#2#0#5#10#whomphammer#!#9#Monster has +15 attack$When attached, this$ monster is dizzied$ $(>)(G)(Z) Dizzy target entity$#0#1#1#0#0#1#0#0#none#1#0#0#0#0#0#15#0#weapon#!#!#
should have been
Code:
1102#Whomphammer#4#0#dm#2#0#5#10#whomphammer#!#999#Monster has +15 attack$When attached, this$ monster is dizzied$ $(>)(Z)(G) Dizzy target entity$#0#1#1#0#0#1#0#0#none#1#0#0#0#0#0#15#0#weapon#!#!#
That's the only issue - nothing needs changed in your code.
I'll (hopefully) be updating that on the main server tonight, and can send you the updated cards.csc file.

Thought this would be better mentioned here. Not been able to test this myself though.
This bug is now fixed.
Attack points between 50 and 100
Life points between 50 and 100

Oh, I can just update the database import with that one line. It's small enough to be redone manually instead of going through the csc.
Also, I've fixed the attack and life points bug.

RE: NightWind's Card Searcher
After some research and detective work I assume you mean Active as in this? I was looking at abilities.csc for a while before noticing that I was looking in the wrong place.
I will try to do that over the weekend...
But next time whether it be you or someone else, when requesting features or mentioning bugs, I would like whoever is posting it to answer the questions below (instead of posting a single sentence with very little context). These are my minimum requirements for any piece of work.
1) Reason on why the change is needed
2) How the feature should work. E.g. How can I differentiate between Active and non Active cards?
3) Sample list of cards which meet the search criteria
4) Sample list of cards which don't meet the criteria
5) Special cases where the above may not apply
That way it will make it faster for me to be able to code the feature instead of having to try to guess what is wanted and possibly coding the wrong thing. I'm involved with this on a consultancy basis, so won't be able to know the entire game and its cards off by heart. If I don't see the above answered, I'm most likely not going to code it until they are answered.
That said, expect the feature to be testable this weekend. :)

RE: NightWind's Card Searcher
Actually, wouldn't this search work if you were looking for active cards? Or is there more to it?

RE: NightWind's Card Searcher
what search is that exactly? did you search for each of those by card ID or something?
1) Reason on why the change is needed
in this case, it isn't
it would be nice but like Lifebar it isn't a terribly common ability
2) How the feature should work. E.g. How can I differentiate between Active and non Active cards?
I don't believe I'll ever be able to answer this question
I don't know how you differentiate between any of the abilities in the first place
3) Sample list of cards which meet the search criteria
you seem to have found them in this case, next time I will
4) Sample list of cards which don't meet the criteria
Kelar General, Stasis Field, Pirate Captain, Touch of Knowledge, Cursed Warhammer
5) Special cases where the above may not apply
I'm afraid I don't understand this one

RE: NightWind's Card Searcher
That is the (Active) ability he's talking about, and it's nowhere in the cards.csc file, Horo. And that's just a search on cards containing the text "(Active)", NOLDER.
As for your question 2, searching on ability text is the only way unfortunately. This search does cover everything though and would also cover all currently planned upcoming cards too.
I think this is how searches for Fleeting, Touch of Death, Second Life and Bounce work, although these searches do actually miss cards where the ability is hidden ( First Avrillian has hidden Fleeting for example). I don't think we'd ever hide Active though, as it'd just be too frustrating not knowing why you couldn't cast a spell half the time.
Incidentally, the search for bounce misses a lot of cards from it, due to it being worded in a number of different ways at the moment.

RE: NightWind's Card Searcher
So tackling each of the things one by one...
Bounce search "bug" - I'm willing to fix it or at least bring it as close as possible to the wiki list. I can add this "return + hand" search to the existing bounce search. Will that cover all cards? Are spells to be included or excluded?
And yes - I basically search via card text for most abilities unless there is a distinct column value in cards.csc. From what NightWind told me, it will be a challenge, perhaps even not possible to integrate abilities.csc (potential for searching hidden abilities).
I am willing to see if abilities.csc is integrateable. I am not making any promises whatsoever. If anything, it will look like another complete searcher needs to be written. Called Ability Searcher or something.
But before I dive into it, I want to know what the interest is in an abilities.csc searcher. What are the advantages? Can you use the cardsearcher as is as an ability searcher? What features do you want to see?
So I presume from what masa said, that currently searching for Active can be accomplished by putting (Active) in the card text search box? Are you guys willing to go with this?

RE: NightWind's Card Searcher
Yeah, if you just have it search for the word (Active) in card text that will cover all cards with (Active).

I'm going to assume you're using "dude" as a general honorific. But yeah, I'll leave the cardsearcher as is but will fix the bounce bug so that it matches what you guys see on the wiki.

RE: NightWind's Card Searcher
The latest publically available abilities.csc file is bundled with the Card Editor (although it dates from May, so it's a little out of date). If you did end up using that somehow then I could provide the abilities.csc file at the same time I provide you the cards.csc file though.
If you fancy looking through the abilities.csc file, there's a bit of a guide (sort of) over here. I'll also volunteer Bugle as your go-to guy for any queries you might have. I'm, uh, I'm sure he won't mind

RE: NightWind's Card Searcher
@masa
The test site for the fix to the bounce bug is below. Let me know if adequately covers all cards, what cards need to be added and what needs to be removed. I'm searching via the cardtext for "bounce" and a "return to hand" generally.
http://users5.nofeehost.com/nightwind/horos_test_site/
Also masa - are you saying you are interested in an abilities searcher and if so, how much are you interested? If you are interested, please let me know how you want it to work (e.g. what you want to search buy). I assume that Bugle will be the techy sort of person I ask about the file in detail to?

RE: NightWind's Card Searcher
Chocolate Box and Hitodama are missing (their bounce abilities are hidden).
Rebuild, Magic Copy Machine, Resurrection, Lumi, The Mitiring and I-Angel should not be on there (graveyard retrieval rather than bouncing).
I'm not particularly interested in an ability searcher - I think it might be too messy, as there are often a few different ways to code something, a few abilities that use workaroundy solutions, and abilities that use code which probably don't make a lot of sense compared to what they do. It'd probably be a case of a lot of effort for little benefit really.
Also with Bugle it's more to get as much use out of the knowledge he has (he's learned how to work the abilities.csc scripting but there's not a whole lot you can do with that considering we don't code new cards all that often) and because I'm possibly too lazy to do it myself

RE: NightWind's Card Searcher
I just had an idea
probably wont work but I'm mainly just curious
would it be possible to make the card searcher search acronyms like the wiki?
for example if I type da into the wiki it will bring up all cards that have the acronym da
http://www.cardmasterconflict.com:8000/w...dex.php/Da
