NightWind's Card Searcher

If you want that feature, it will make a basic search as slow as the store search.

Possibly codeable, but what benefit is gained from this feature - how will you ultimately use it? And since I might be basing on what is on the wiki, isn't the wiki itself sufficient?

The benefit gained is that it's a timesaver, just having to put in "da" instead of "dissolving acid", I'd guess. At least that's how I use it on the wiki.

If it makes searches slower then it's probably failing as a timesaving measure

When I'm searching on the card searcher at the moment though I'll just type in "battery" if I'm checking for Battery Relic, and sure I get Battery of Souls too but that's fine). Or "diss" for Dissolving Acid, but also get Dissipate. Still a timesaving measure, just a different one; on the wiki a search for "diss" would return nothing, as it does't do partial words, for instance.

Well I didn't actually do the search to see what I'd get, but yeah.

If I'm looking for store results or whatever, having only a few extra cards in there doesn't really detract from anything.

The main cardsearcher has now been updated to show the mana icons, dizzy symbols and cardbacks so that you can at least see if the card is Dar, Light or Grey and so on.

It's not entirely robust, some images are on nofeehost, others via the wiki and the remaining via the forum. I have a daily upload/download limit for nofeehost, so cannot host all images on the server.

Anyways, give it a test and please post any errors you see (such as missing cardbacks or icons). The card images themselves should not display.

All, I have switched the cardsearcher back to the full version.

During today's downtime where CMC, the forums and wiki were all unavailable, I had switched the cardsearcher to the standalone mode. I have also improved the standalone mode so that the mana dots, other symbols and cardbacks display. They now run off the nofeehost server.

The cardsearcher has now been switched back to it's original full mode.

If at anytime in the future I notice that CMC is down, I will be switching it to the standalone mode.

Now the next step is to make the switching automatic

I just did a search for all cards available in boosters and the results included whomphammer which is not available in boosters

Interesting find. Currently, the "In boosters" search looks for all cards in the csc file with Availability = 1. Which is what Whomphammer is recorded as.

Mods, would this method of searching for "In boosters" be correct? Are there any additional rules to apply?

The "in boosters" search should just look at the availability flag, but at the moment that flag is set wrong on Whomphammer. So it's a problem with the card, not the card searcher.

Wow, so many (little) things were done wrong on that card ( and the wrong way around, expansion was set wrong, availability was set wrong, maybe something else I can't remember).

Auto-switch has just been implemented.

When CMC is down, it should now switch to the lite version. You can see "Cardsearcher is in lite-mode. Not all images may display" at the top of the page in the header. Lite-mode will not search stores nor HS and not all images will display. You should at least see cardbacks, mana and speed symbols.

When CMC is up, the cardseacher should be working normally.

Implementing this auto-switch has made the cardsearcher slightly more slower, but it's worth it. Each search will be as slow as a normal store search, and if you have store search selected, it will be like 2x store searches. I might consider reverting it back to fast mode (no autoswitch at all) when CMC stabalises, but this negates the purpose of autoswitch. Thoughts guys?

Can someone please confirm the auto-switch works?

I had to work today, but unless you changed it back manually when CMC went back up (whenever that was), the auto switch seems to have worked.
