Because last time they wanted a boost, but this time I shown them the light and said "change it instead" and they were all "okay we'll vote for that and just boost it anyway" and I was "okay so long as we call it a change" and they were all "lol whatever".

Well "be okay with" and "going to vote for an encourage everyoen else to vote for" aren't exactly the same thing
